the car - post accident

the car that's seen better days

we went up and got our first look at the car today, and wow. all i can say is that we are very thankful to God that stan is alive to tell about it. we read through one of the police reports today, and found out that the drunk driver hit stan at about 55mph.

we are grateful to the engineers at ford for designing a car that did exactly what it was supposed to do when smashed by another car. we were both so impressed with how well the car protected the passenger area of the car.

stan holding the bumper & exhaust pipe of his car - smiling because he is happy to be standing and walking away.

what the rear end of a cougar looks like when someone hits it at 55mph from a dead stop.

what the rear end of a cougar is SUPPOSED to look like. (the pic is from some random car site, that i forgot to keep track of... sorry random cougar owner!)

a good shot showing where the rear end of stan's car used to be.

what it looks like when you have airbags deploy. stan says he'll never forget that smell. he says it smells like burning hair. and that he'll never own a car without them now.

thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers over the past few days. they mean a lot to our family. much love for a happy & safe new year from all of us.

oh.my.goodness!!! I couldn't even imagine...reminds us all that life is precious and could change in the blink of an eye!! Stan is a very lucky man!! I used to have this metal angel hanging from my rear view mirror that said "Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly" Made me think of that!!!

That's very good advice. I'm know the good Lord had his hand on this situation. On my facebook profile I have written, "Every breath I draw is by the will of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" and this situation just seems to drive that point home.

Amazing... Thank the good Lord that he's ok. I can only imagine the fear he felt when the airbags deployed. I hope Stan does not have any problems that pop up later down the road from this terrible accident. I'm glad to see the car held up that well! I owned a Kia Spectra once and I know for sure my old car would have never survived that! Way to go Ford!! :)

Oh my goodness! What a scary time for your family. Like others, I'm so happy that Stan made it through this okay. Cars are replaceable, good people aren't. I hope that driver learns a valuable lesson and never drives while drunk again!

Hugs to your family!

Wow Noel, that was a bad accident. So glad Stan is ok and able to walk away like you said. I guess they put those airbags in there for good reason. Hope you New Year is a good one. I love how you thanked the random cougar owner! Cute! Hugs

Wow! Glad is ok. Reminds me of a car accident that I had. My dad owns a junk yard and the car was always there for me to see...creepy!

I saw pics on Facebook and I was wondering what was going on... then I saw the funny picture of the two of you and I figured you were participating in one of those emergecy disaster drills... at least that was what I was hoping was going on! We all know that God has His hand on our shoulders everyday, but sometimes we are blessed to see/be a part of a daily miracle! So glad to hear Stan is alright... sore, but will be fine. On a side note, "Hall Pass"... I almost spit out my coffee laughing about that one!!! Keep smiling, Noel! You are soooo blessed!!!

WHOA! How scary for you and you family! Thank God that everything is OK! Sorry about the Cougar too! It is a strong car to have taken a 55 mph hit!

Yeah, that little Cougar of mine was a great car. I did have to take the wrench to it a couple of times but it never left me stranded and it definitely saved my life (with a little Divine intervention I'm sure). I have actually given serious thought to buying another one but they are hard to come by. Thanks for all the prayers, God bless and Happy New Years everyone.
