bridges, school and pillows, oh my!

bridges, school and pillows
oh my!

we went out to a picnic today for stan's squadron... whenever we head out toward the base we always cross my favorite bridge in washington. so we stopped to walk across it on our way back. it's such a beautiful and amazing bridge surrounded by the most amazing landscape that seems new every time we pass it.

stan & the girls on the bridge

torrey & emma checking out the story behind deception pass

school starts next week... so we went to check out the class lists today, meet the girls' teachers and drop off their school supplies

and guess what i've been making...
you guessed it... pillows

i picked up some funky fabrics from the fabric store the other day to make some throw pillows for my living room. i am loving how they've turned out. they add so much color to the living room... not to mention how much cheaper it is to make your own! yowza! but now that i'm in the pillow-making-groove i'm thinking i should make some each season just for kicks. (we'll see if that actually happens... but it's a fun idea anyway!) the best thing about them is... you only need to know how to sew mostly straight lines. :)

and the side shot is just another dose of kudos for my fabulous husband. i picked up these end tables (and a couple of others not in the pic) from a couple of antique stores and a garage sale (thanks jennifer!). my wonderful husband stripped and painted all of them this cool turquoise color for me. isn't he the greatest!?! :)

hope you had a great thursday, too!

Ok. That bridge IS awesome and I love how you did the check boxes with the "Outside." I love love love the turquoise tables they are SO pretty and I love it with the black. Your pillows are awesome, and make me want to learn how to sew. I have a machine, maybe I should just get it out? The girls are just too precious, I bet they are just so excited for school. Is it kind of bitter sweet for mama? Your girls make me want to have girls becuase of how cute they are and how well behaved they always seem. Such princesses. I love it. I find out in a week what I am having, and I so hope it is a girl.

Great pictures Noel. It looks like the girls are excited for school. I love those throw pillows. I have been wanting to go to the fabric store and put some things together. You might have given me the extra push I needed. :-)

Have a great long weekend,

Wow Noel, you all have been busy! I miss Washington so much, especially for it's beauty! I'm hoping to get back in a year or two.
I absolutely love your throw pillows. They really brighten things up it seems! Too cute! Have you thought about selling them? :) I love pillows. Can't get enough. lol

One thing I miss about WA is that school starts after Labor Day usually. Here in Kentucky, my kids started school Aug. 4th. To me it just seems too early to be going to school. Summer is still in session in August, especially that early! Anyway, I hope that your girls enjoy their first day of school and have a fabulous year in school! :)

Love the pics!! Got my package of Glitz stuff......Thank you so much! I can't wait to use it.

I was thinking of making some pillows too. I'm just concerned that my pillows will not resemble a square at all. :) Love the fabric you used.
