spring breakin' - photo journal of our seattle trip

the girls and i took a little trip to seattle over spring break. they had no idea we were going... just packed the bag after they went to bed, and we headed out for our surprise day of super fun. :)

they wanted to wear their new shades that are "grum style". grum is the nickname for my mom... and she always wears giant sunglasses... yah, even when they weren't in style.

we got to the hotel in seattle, and the girls we trying to figure out why in the heck we were there... did i need to pick something up? lol. so when i told them we were staying they were ecstatic! and when they found out we were staying in a room that had bunk beds for them... it was met with the best response ever... "wow! thanks mom! this is the best day in my whole life ever!" how does one beat that?

well, i did my best to add to the happiness with heading to our all time favorite restaurant... the melting pot. for yummy fondue happiness. wisconsin three cheese blend with veggies and bread; steak & shrimp cooked in their yummy broth; and finished chocolate turtle flambe and all of the dipping goodies. the only thing missing was stan.

the next day we walked down to the seattle center for another day of fun. hitting the space needle, whirly gig, and a bunch of other seattle center fun schtuff. and lucky for us it was the warmest day we've had since october!

we spent a good chunk of the afternoon at the pacific science center. there are so many fun things to do there. the strange matter interactive exhibits were really fun. we also found out in the "body works" section that we've all got decent reflex reaction times and better than average flexibility. :) the tropical butterfly house, and the insect village were pretty cool too. and of course, the shadow wall... which doesn't turn out well in pics, but is REALLY cool.

we made our best dinosaur faces

i tried my hand at being a wall flower

we made forest fairy hats

we rolled a two ton granite ball with our bare hands in the water works area

then we hopped on the monorail and headed to westlake center

we got the super cool end seats on the way out of seattle center.

had lunch at p.f. changs... enjoyed our favorite ginger peach tea

right across from westlake center is the cool walk through fountain... where you're only supposed to get "slightly" wet... um, yah. not so much. more like fairly wet. which means after 3 or 4 times through... mostly wet. needless to say...
walk through fountains + getting wet = crazy fun

and just for fun, why not strike a silly pose in front of a gap window display.

and how can one not make a quick stop in the second busiest starbucks in north america

then another ride on the monorail & back to the seattle center to check out some of the cool sculptures and gardens.

we headed back toward the hotel with a couple of bags full of candy from westlake. we sat in the fisher plaza courtyard for a couple of minutes to enjoy the view of the space needle. this is how an example of how to smile with your mouth full of salt water taffy, and NOT drool on yourself.

and this is an example of how to drool on yourself with salt water taffy in your mouth

and just for fun we took a pic in front of the world famous pink elephant car wash sign.

and the taxi was just a bonus background...

and this is what it looks like driving home from a spring break super fun seattle trip...
remind me again who was driving the car while taking pictures...
yah, that's my motto, "safety first!"

Noel, your trip looked FABULOUS! I love your blog. You are great at journaling, and your girls look like they had a blast. So much fun, she looks exhausted at the end heehee. Thanks for sharing. Isn't it funny that such a small thing can be such a great memory and something that you and your girls will always remember. You three are so beautiful.

What lucky little girls to have a mom that is fun like you!! I think it is super cute that they dress alike. My sister and I were only 21 months apart and we dressed in the same outfit but different colors. Too fun!

Ok first things first.....I am so jealous you ate a PF Changs. The closest one to us is 2 hours away, but luckily hubby does conferences at the Hilton across the street from it. We get our "Changs" on a couple times during each visit. How close in age are your girls? We adopted sisters that are 10 months and 3 weeks apart. They are currently 2 and 3 and quite a challenge. Thanks for sharing the pics.

A perfect DAY....or 2 days! Love how Emma looks like she ate a bit "too much" of that sack of candy! LOL! (Also, is that a vein I see popping out of Torrey's forehead...wonder where she got THAT? (wink)

Beautiful day. Love the pics, love the fact that you just took off and did it. Way to make a memory, girl!

....and I can't believe those girls still have to be in a car seat...Safety First!

You take the most amazing photos ever!!!! I love their gymboree outfits!! I am a gymbo-a-hokic as well for samantha. I tried that plaid dress on her, and it was too tight, and the next size up was too big. Neither here nor there, looks like you had a fabulous trip!! Thanks for sharing!!!

It looks like you had a fabulous time on your trip! What a wonderful spring break memory they will have. Thanks for sharing the play by play of your time there - I really enjoyed it! The only thing missing (besides Stan of course!!!) was a picture of the bags of candy. (or is that an EMPTY candy bag next to Emma? LOL)
