ch-ch-ch-changes & winners (well, really just one winner)

so what do you think? i did a little changin' to the ol' blog. i really liked the black background, but was itching for some change... so at least for now, i'm sporting the clean, crisp color white, along with a new header. i'm definitely not an html expert, but i can google-question my way through simple changes. tell me what you think! is the bright new look great, or awful?

Love that you can look back a year ago! It gets me "emotional" as well!
A great new book would be one that would incorporate how to use those "not so great photos" into a layout! Also including great, simple, easy photo editing tips all packed into one place!!

congratulations veronica! shoot me an email, and i'll get you hooked up!

now to finish off today's post of randomness - onto 365 shots from the past few days. with emma being the more willing of the girls to have her picture taken these days, she seems to have taken the picture of the day slots by storm lately. being a mom who tries to be fair, i drug torrey out for her turn. {hee hee} we messed around and laughed a lot, and ended up with these fun shots to show for it.

016.365
we spent part of the weekend with my friend and fellow navy wife leila and her sweet little one, eva. we took the girls bowling friday night, then met up with trish (another fab navy wife) and her little one, isla, on saturday so the girls could paint some cute little pottery pieces for their deployed daddies for valentine's day. i'm sure stan won't mind getting a few packages of love in the mail in the next few weeks! {lots of painting pictures here}

on our way home from oak harbor we stopped by deception pass, an amazingly beautiful bridge over turbulent blue waters. it took the shot above of the girls reading the history of the pass and posted a bunch more here. we'd stopped by the same stop the night before just before it was completely dark, and i got the super lucky shot below. i was sans tripod, so i propped the camera on a pillar (with the car still running on the side of the road) pressed the shutter and got lucky!

015.365
the water reflects the sky beautifully for just a short bit of time each night... but i've never been able to get it on film (most likely because i'm always shooting out of a moving car window - passenger side, of course). but this time i stopped, propped and rolled! there are a few other just for fun night shots here if you're interested.

one more fun thing to check out... i found this very cool site with ceramic rings. they've got all kinds of other bands for men and women too. check out their beautifully simple style here.

before i pain anyone further with the length and random-ness of this post, i am going say goodnight! let me know what you think about the new design... suggestions are welcome, too!

winning is sweet!

i'm finally back! i actually got back sunday afternoon, but i've been a little trashed for the past couple of days. i spent a couple of weeks going literally nonstop, and i'm finally kind of back to normal!

so i'm catching up on posting my 365 pictures, and the winners of my nsd giveaway! yea. :) i feel like i've been a little out of the groove for the past few days on my 365 pics. they're not all of my favorites, but i have taken pics each day... so i'm considering that a success.

this is a picture of my friend cindy. i know she'll probably hate it, but it makes me laugh every time i see it. at our ladies retreat, she was constantly shocked by our lack of "filters" before we said stuff. i told her i have filters, they just are more relaxed than hers. way more! :) so this is her, "this is what having a filter looks like" face. lol.

a pretty wild flower on a path out at the conference center. the picture is a lot more vibrant, but apparently the upload sucks that vibrancy out of the pictures... :)

the group of ladies that lead worship at our women's retreat. aren't they cute? these two ladies are also grandmas! i hope i look as cute as them as a grammy.

and for the winners! thanks to random.org, i have 5 winners!!!

Before scrapbooking, I never thought of myself as very creative or, much less, an artist. Now I am scrappin' and card-makin' and getting wonderful compliments from everyone. I finally found my creative outlet! I have met so many wonderful people and my family love to see what I do with our photos! I am so grateful to have found this hobby :)

Have a great time this weekend! That is what is so great about scrapbooking is documenting memories. Being a military family we move alot and it is nice to have scrapbooks to help the kids remember all the places we've lived and the people we've met.

I collect dust. It is a passive activity that requires absolutely no effort on my part. The dust is non-discriminating, and is content to settle on all my "piles"... SB magazines waiting to be read, my SB workbench longing to be used, CDs that need playing, books that need reading... Great blog, Noel!
April 3, 2009 2:20 PM

congratulations cathyb! email me your addy and i'll get your package of goodies. loved the whole collecting dust! our fam got a great laugh off of that one. CONGRATULATIONS! thanks again for everyone who checks in from time to time. you guys are the best!

and now for a brief wrap up of our camping weekend! it was pretty much amazing. we couldn't have asked for better weather. after snow flurries on wednesday, we had the most perfect weather imaginable for our whole weekend. sunny and 70! yes. we enjoyed the best weather we've had since september! we roasted marshmallows, popped jiffy pop popcorn over the fire, hiked, hung out on the beach, found little sea creatures, watched whales, visited with friends, rode bikes, threw a football, played paddle ball & frisbee... and a million tiny little things that make for a fabulous camping trip!

i volunteer {almost} every week at the girls' school... helping in the classrooms & chatting it up with pretty much everyone in sight. i'm sure they fear wednesdays! lol. i do love watching the girls' in their classes, with their friends, with their teachers and doing their work. it's just a fun side of their lives to get to be a part of. since i pretty much always have my camera with me, the girls are used to me snapping away, and i'm pretty sure they don't even hear the click of the shutter anymore. almost like white noise to them, i think. anyway, i caught this one of torrey doing a writing assingment today in class.

one last whoo hoo for the day. it's a fun one for me, i've been very nervous/excited about my first review article over at the scrap review... well, it posted today. check it out if you'd like. let me know what you think!
