On our way home from school today I asked Emma where she wanted to
take our photo of the day. She replied, "Somewhere old and rusty." So we
stopped by an old smoke stack in the middle of town and snapped a few
quick pictures before diving into an afternoon full of homework. This old smoke stack is a sort of beacon of our town being the tallest structure within sight. They raise lighted shapes to match each holiday up the huge stack, it's a familiar sight. Sometimes these familiar sights grow common to the point of oblivion. I thought a lot today about the precious fragility of life, and just how easy it is to become blasé about it. So today was a moment to stop by and appreciate the familiar, to call a couple of the precious souls that I am blessed to love just because.
Chesterton Quote of the Day
“When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you
take things for granted or take them with gratitude.”
-G.K. Chesterton
