This month our
Punky Sprouts challenge was to create a project using a
kraft paper line as our main paper.
Punky Sprouts products are quite
literally a blank canvas. Lil' Stems can be pleated or ruffled or misted
or twisted. Punky Blossoms create texture without a lot of bulk. They
can be kept flat or folded or scrunched or sewed. Add white ink or
cardstock or journaling or doilies to stand out as a brilliant and
positive color against the brown paper. In the words of one of my
favorite authors, G.K. Chesterton, "Brown paper represents the primal
twilight of the first toil of creation, and with a bright-colored chalk
or two you can pick out points of fire in it, sparks of gold, and
blood-red, and sea-green, like the first fierce stars that sprang out of
divine darkness."
So take up the
Punky Challenge this month, find your
favorite kraft paper line or a Punky Playground and bring out the sparks
of gold against the neutral beauty and blank canvas of brown kraft
paper.
To make pleats with Punky Lil' Stems, sew a straight stitch with a
sewing machine while folding the canvas over then under to form pleats. I
loved
the texture it gave to the layout and the contrast of the hot pink
thread on the canvas.
To make flowers fold the Punky Blossom in half several times and
sew, glue or staple the bottom corner edge. With the bottom edge secured, begin opening and flattening to form a
flower.
