blue eyes & blankets

blue eyes & blankets

holy hot man alert, batman!!! got this picture of stan yesterday while working on some pictures for another project. i asked for a serious face (you should have seen the ones right before this one). i'm really surprised he held the serious face long enough for this shot, because right after that he busted out laughing. anyway, he looks pretty darn hot i think!

in a great attempt to clean our girls' rooms... and maybe get them to keep them anything shy of what emma calls the "dump junk yard"... we went to target and picked out some new comforters for their beds. we came home, did a lot of throwing away, reorganizing, rearranging and this is what we got. emma went for the princess look, since she plans on being a princess when she grows up. {although she may not be the kind who gets to live in a castle, she says} we'll be rummaging some flea markets in the coming days for some more fun accessories. anybody know of a place to get a reasonably priced pretty chandelier?

and torrey went for a "grown up cool" bedspread. i'm thinking we're going to have to repaint the walls since the baby pink doesn't seem to go with the new look. she has a bean bag chair that i now want to recover in some funky pink fabric. so i'll have to be on the lookout for some. we'll also be doing some vintage shopping for her room. you can find the coolest tables and goodies on this cute street in snohomish full of antique and second hand shops. my favorite is one called joyworks.

IKEA has a couple chandeliers...I think they start at about $40

Hey it's JanoBean from AMR and CK -- you can always get a regular chandelier and then add strings of beads to make it look like the one on the pillow. Could be a fun project for the girls!

I've seen a cute pink & white chandelier at our local Lowe's - - it was $98.

I was going to say check out Lowes too...they had one little section of cute little chandeliers.

Love the girl's choices.

What is the fabric hanging by over her bed? My daughter is wanting to do her bed like this too.

melissa,

the mosquito net above the bed is from ikea. my mom picked it up the christmas before last for them. i'm not sure if they still carry them, but i think they were very reasonably priced.

seems like i've seen them at pier one before too.

Hi there! Nice shot of your guy! (it's refreshing to hear you extol his virtues here so much, when so much of our culture seems bent on dad/husband bashing.)

As for the chandler, have you looked a the "Spare Room" on Camano? We just bought three lamps and some other odds & ends for our new little one's room. They have some cool funky stuff I have no idea what your idea of "cheep" is or what their fixtures go for... But it might be worth a look. If you don't know where it is drop me a note and I'll get you directions (it's on the main drag)

thanks adam! yes, i've got a pretty great guy here. and i feel really blessed!!!

i was just at the spare room yesterday looking. the chandeliers they have in right now are about the same price as new ones from pottery barn right now. they had a few smaller ones that were reasonably priced, so i was thinking about those.

they've got some great priced lamps, though. i got several of the end tables for our house from there. and poppyseeds in town, which also has some really cool stuff. oh and did you know that spare room has a store in everett now too?

Noel-
I'll mention poppyseeds to my wife (and hold my breath!)

Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know...how did you hang it? Is it from the ceiling? On a rod? Thanks for your patience...It's my first girl!

melissa, it has a little ring on the top, and we hung it from a hook we screwed into the ceiling. :)

we had them up at our old house (the girls were a little younger) so we added some wire to secure it, but now it's just hanging from the hook. hth!
