aaron's service dog update
my sister, aaron and i went up to brigadoon to meet aaron's dog. i learned a lot about service dogs today! i thought we'd meet "the one" since this was aaron's second visit... but not so. we went up and met with seven dogs. the trainer, denise, brings some of her up and coming dogs in, one at a time, to watch them with aaron. she watches how he reacts and interacts with the dog, and how it interacts with him. today, gypsy looked like the best match. they'll go back in a couple of weeks and meet with them again, and see if any more connections are formed. finding "the dog" is the first step. once they find the dog that clicks best with aaron and his needs, they will start training it to meet his specific needs. it's quite the process. i'm sure we'll learn so much more as we go.
my sister, danica, will post more pictures of our trip today on aaron's blog... and lots more info about our trip today. thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers!

wow, I didn't really it was such an in depth process to find a service dog, but it sounds like a great opportunity for Aaron.
I have tears in my eyes, just imagining how great this dog will be for all of you! ((hugs)) i hope it continues on a smooth road! sniffle!
I absolutely teared up too. Here's to hoping he finds the perfect match for him.
So glad y'all were able to go. I can't wait to see which dog Aaron gets to take home! :)
What an amazing process! I had no idea it was so indepth either. Praying for the right match!
Oh, absolutely precious and incredible! I sooo love that our sweet furry friends can help our kids! I was actually in the process of emailing Danica and wanted to quickly check your blog and thrilled to see this update. I do love that the service dog organization wants to find the best match for Aaron! How awesome is that? And then to train for his needs.. I just sooo love it! Ellie has really connected with horses and does so incredibly well with therapeutic riding! We were asked if she could be featured in a CBS affiliate special on "Healing and horses" and I'm thrilled. She's a different child on top of that magnificent animal! And she's so excited to have that ability to be in the spotlight! I've been keeping Aaron in my thoughts and prayers and can't wait til he gets the perfect companion for him! No more lock-picking for you Aaron :)!!
What an amazing process. That is so wonderful that your nephew will have a service dog to meet his specific needs and not only that, but one that he bonds with. I'm praying for Aaron and your family.
