Up to Date - Nearly

I have loads of recent pictures that I've just finished editing. The week (or so) really got away from me, at least in the area of keeping up with editing photo unnecessary to the function of day to day life. Although they're not completely necessary, it's important for me to keep up for Stan's sake. He misses so much of the little daily life moments when he's on deployment, and it's one little way we can be together each day. So I press on. I'm still not entirely caught up, but I'm closer.

The rest will be brief by way of descriptions since I'm typing without my contacts and really should be getting myself ready for the day.

My mom made this quilt for Torrey when she was born.
She doesn't like it to be washed, and she can't sleep without it.
The edges are warn from her little finger rubbing she does when she sleeps.
It's perfect.

when the cat's away...

after a fabulous week in california, we arrived back home on friday night and noticed a few things that were "off" at our house. garbage in the cans, stan's hats were in a different spot, all of the cans in my pantry were backwards, the back blinds were closed... just a few things that were different from when we'd left. well, we didn't think much of it knowing that my mom & dad were stopping by while we were gone, and i figured my sister had turned all of my canned food backwards for fun.

well, we decided to go for a donut sunday after church with a few of our friends, and that's when they handed this special little gift over to us! a little scrapbook they'd made of a party they had at our house while we were gone... complete with a fairytale themed story to go with it! gotta love friends that you know so well, and love so much that they'd go to all of the effort to plan a party at your house while you're away... and SCRAPBOOK it! i heart our friends. thanks guys!

so i figured i'd share a few highlights from their big party without us! i'm shocked that they were all able to keep it quiet until this morning. lol. stan & i told them next time they're all going to have to come with us on vacation. we'll also be plotting a well planned revenge strategy. :)


in the end i went with a picture of torrey for today's p365 pic. it just turned out so pretty i couldn't resist. she's all of a sudden hit that very grown up look it seems. ::sigh::

we got to visit with some old friends today. the last time our families had hung out together was on our move back from florida 5'ish years ago. they've moved back to the great state of washington... and we got to meet their two youngest sweeties for the very first time. their baby boy is just the cutest thing ever, he's a chunk with the sweetest smile this side of the cascades. we didn't get a picture of sweetie #2, between playing with emma and being camera shy it just wasn't going to happen.

torrey had a great time playing with their oldest girl. they climbed trees, rode bikes, spied on the little ones, and generally had a great time together. we're so glad to have them back in state so we can hang out more often!

we saw the sun and the sunrise for the first time in a couple of weeks this morning. no fog, no rain, no clouds! just beautiful clear skies and fog melting away from the mountains as the sun rose above them. it was beautiful! and that this is the view that we see from our house... like stan says, "i know i don't live in heaven but sometimes i think i can see it from my house."

this afternoon we got to visit with our friends mandy & josh, and i snapped a couple of pics of their youngest. he is such a sweet little doll-baby with the biggest eyes. i'm pretty sure i've seen his face on jars of gerber.
