Sparkle & Shine

This week the paper crafting focus falls on Glitz Design's striking giant rhinestones. With self adhesive rhinestones that coordinate with each of the Glitz lines, you always have a way to add a little (or a lot) of sparkle to your project.

Inspired by several crafty friends using household items as embellishments, I went digging in my kitchen for some goodies of my own. I ran across freezer paper, punched it into heart shapes and sewed them onto my page. They added a bit of translucent tone-on-tone texture to the project.

Not Out of the Ordinary

The past few weeks life has been filled with extraordinary moments of ordinary life. Beautiful sunrises out my bedroom window, my Grandpa's baptism, Holy Week and Easter to name a few. Since it is not out of the ordinary for me to fall behind on posting my photos, I figured I would update with just Instagram shots from my phone (and two shots from a year ago today).
Oh what a beautiful morning #sunrise

I've been taking a friend of mine to the University of Washington for her radiation appointments. As she battles through colon cancer, we try to enjoy the artwork at the UW and the glory of everyday life.

Little things that remind me if my dad
Walking through Costco, this shirt display reminded me of my dad. He wore these nearly everyday.

“On the third day the friends of Christ coming at daybreak to the place found the grave empty and the stone rolled away.  In varying ways they realized the new wonder; but even they hardly realized that the world had died in the night.  What they were looking at was the first day of a new creation, with a new heaven and a new earth; and in a semblance of the gardener God walked again in the garden, in the cool not of the evening but of the dawn.”  -G. K. Chesterton, The Everlasting Man

from the recently published file

from the recently
published file

this layout was published in the february issue of ck. all of the soy girls did a layout on one of our passions (and it couldn't be our kids, scrapbooking or photography). i decided to go with coffee. while i may not be crazy passionate coffee in a way that my life revolves around it... i do love my coffee. and we have a local roasting company that makes the best coffee ever! and don't tell stan, but i just picked up a new coffee maker with a delayed start timer thingy... (he's going to be very excited about that when he comes home from deployment!)

as it is so beautifully summed up on my newest tin sign in my kitchen...
