As the Years Go By

Easter is almost here again, and all of the world seems to be teeming with new life. Here in Western Washington hundreds of acres are a kaleidoscope of colors with tens of thousands of tulips in bloom. Every year since my girls were knee-high, we've had a tradition of kissing a particular stone frog at one of the tulip gardens. After looking through the photos this year, I went through some of the photos of springs-gone-by watching the girls grow up before my eyes. This layout features two sets of spring photos seven years apart, capturing the little moments as the years go by.

Glitter & Shine

Glitter is an easy element to add a little punch to your projects. On this project I used a ruler and light pencil lines to draw stripes in the opposite direction of the stripes on the patterned paper. I traced over these lines with glitter glue, then for a little extra pop added a little more glitter on top. I added a touch of glitter to the edge of one of the vellum sheets, then sprinkled hexagon glitter across the page for just a little more sparkle.

Home Sweet Homeschool

Through the personal challenge of Project 365, I have taken at least one photo everyday for more than five years now. I tend to take a lot of portraits, my personal favorite type, but I've tried to capture some of our daily grind in the mix as well. This week our Glitz Design challenge is to celebrate daily life. I combined my photo of homeschooling in action with a hand written title and lots of layers of Glitz.

Color Trends: Pink, Silver/Gold & Neutrals

This week Glitz is featuring another on-trend color challenge, which doubles as a prep for Valentine's Day next week. The color pallet for this challenge includes pink, silver or gold and a neutral. 

Last week I took a few photos of my daughter in a headband tiara that belonged to her great grandma. The photos turned out so soft and sweet I thought this color pallet would be perfect match for them. I mixed some old favorites with the latest Glitz goodies, along with a touch of calligraphy in silver ink to complete the look.

Merry - Mary - Christmas

I took last week off from scrapbooking to welcome my husband home from a seven month deployment with the US Navy. We are so grateful to have him back home with us! 

For the next few weeks my Glitz projects will be on all things Christmas. This week I had "brown paper packages, tied up with string" on the mind, so I went with it. I've been trying to integrate a bit of my latest hobby (calligraphy) onto a few of my scrapbook pages for an extra special touch.
