i worked on a few projects for my local scrapbook store, lasting memories, using the teresa collins friendship line. super pretty & full of flourishes! my favorite! i think they're up in the store now. they've got our little design team galleries on the store's blog now, i don't have too many projects in there yet... but it's fun to check out everyone's stuff.

on tuesday my baby brother, jason, came to town for a quick visit. he'd just gotten back from visiting my other brother, dave, who lives in japan. we had a big family dinner and heard all about his trip. my brother, dave, got married the day before jason got there, so jason met his new wife kaori. we're hoping they'll be able to come out at christmas so we can all meet her. hurray for facebook, since we've been able to get to know her a bit there. she's super sweet & very funny!

jason was only here for just about 24 hours, as he had a business meeting to fly out to the next day. after breakfast on wednesday morning, we sent him on his way. only a few more months until we see him again!

wednesday we spent the day catching up on stuff at home & running a few errands. nothing too exciting. getting ready for back to school... i can't believe next week is the last full week of summer break. yowza! where did it all go?

thursday night i came the closest i've come to missing one of my 365 days. somewhere around 11pm i realized i'd forgotten to take a picture... crummy! i grabbed the camera and went searching. i went with emma's little fridge art monkey. i'm telling you fridge art is just one of those wonderful perks of having kiddos. just makes a house cheery. and who doesn't love a monkey waving at you when you're opening the fridge? :)

today was one of those work-from-home scrappy days. i spent the day working on projects & writing a tsr article that'll go live on wednesday. i've got a few sneaks of the projects below. we had the fuentes family over for dinner. the kids ran around making up some game that involved tying each other to trees and our lamppost. it was pretty dang funny. while sam was tied up, i got this cute little shot of him. :)

he said she said, she said, she said

just thought i'd share a layout i made the other day for a design team call at my lss. i've had the title idea in my head for a year, and it still didn't turn out exactly like i'd hoped... so i feel a mini album coming on at some point with the same theme. love those maya roap chipboard potty people!

and a quick card for the road (since we're hitting the road to go camping as soon as the girls get home from school). i love browsing through the galleries over at splitcoast stampers for card inspiration. there's tons there, and you can look ideas up by stamp manufacturer, stamp set, card theme, etc. how cool is that. it's fabulous if you're looking for quick ideas for that last minute birthday or thank you card. :)

yippy skippy

yippy skippy

scrapbook

so i promised i'd finally get some scrap projects up this week. and well, i got one up. does it count as two if it's a two page spread? yah, i didn't think so either. the pictures and journaling were laid out in photoshop, then just printed right onto an 8.5 x 11 sheet of photo paper. it's such a great way to perfectly crop/resize all of your pictures for a layout in one shot.

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket (green), American Crafts (yellow); transparencies: Hambly (bike & wood grain), Fancy Pants (glitter label); button & mesh flower: Scarlet Lime Kit Club; paper flower: Making Memories; layered foam sticker and chipboard: American Crafts; alphabet stickers: October Afternoon (brown), Adornit (blue); rhinestones: Glitz Designs; white marker: Sharpie; software: Photoshop Elements 5; digital papers (layered): Keri Schueller, Legacy Kit, scrapgirls.com (blue), Tia Bennett, Juicy Kit, twopeasinabucket.com (flower); bird brush: Glitz Designs; fonts: Century Gothic and Helvetica (Microsoft)

the photo of the day was from the navy base. i drove stan out to the base to get checked out by the navy docs. while we were there i got a pic of this sign. he flies the p-3 orion, so i thought it would be a fun pic to have in our stash. :)

black & white
vs.
color

in february's issue of creating keepsakes they ran a column on black & white vs. color photos on layouts. i loved the concept of trying both on a layout and seeing what you like best. some layouts and photos lend themselves so nicely to black & white, while others lend themselves to color.

they picked up a set of my layouts for publishing. this set of layouts was one i submitted that wasn't picked up. i love the colors on these photos, they are simple and the green grass just pops against torrey's white shirt. but some of the photos really help focus on the sense of emotion in the photos. so in the end, i think i like the layout with the mix of black & white and color on this layout.

finding time...

these are a couple of pages i've made for a contest on pcLayers. i'd like to challenge myself to make one page each day... although with all that's going on right now, i'm not sure how long i'll be able to make it! but i'm feeling pretty good today... two days, two layouts! so far, that's a 100% success rate!!!

i really should be working on christmas projects and a few albums for my hubby to take overseas with him when he goes... but there is always tomorrow, right? or late tonight...

anyway, i just wanted to share a couple of the pages i've worked on here in the last couple of days. :)

all page supplies are from pcLayers. fonts: (top layout) fling downloaded from linotype.com and bookman old style. (bottom layout) dearest downloaded from dafont.com and garamond.
